Edelstein will present business tips and tricks for jewelry designers

-- JCK-Jewelers Circular Keystone, 10/14/2005

Jewelry industry consultant Cindy Edelstein will give a talk on how jewelry designers can build a better business.

Edelstein, founder and president of the Jeweler's Resource Bureau, will present "Tips and Tricks from the Trenches - Secrets of Building a Successful Designer Jewelry Business," on Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. The program is an annual career forum sponsored by the Jewelry Design Professionals’ Network.

Edelstein, whose company specializes in the jewelry designer sector, will discuss what contributes to a designer's staying power as a business. Why some jewelry design businesses fail while their peers (even some less talented ones) are successful. And why so many businesses tread water for years.

Edelstein has worked with hundreds of jewelry designers in her 15 years as a consultant, trade show coordinator, marketing coach, and writer. She is an award-winning writer and entrepreneur who has helped countless design entrepreneurs grow their businesses--including artisans, designers, manufacturers, trade associations, publications, trade shows, and government organizations in the United States and abroad.

She is a speaker, competition judge, and workshop leader. Her company publishes books and guides, produces trade shows and conferences, and runs a Web site (www.jewelersresource.com) dedicated to improving designer businesses with information and insight.

Fashion Institute of Technology is at 27th Street and Seventh Avenue, Faculty Dining Room - Bldg A, 8th floor. Admission is $5 for JDPN members and $10 for non members. The event is open to anyone, but JDPN recommends that those interested RSVP, as seating is limited. Contact Dana at 212-734-5939 or at danajewel@nyc.rr.com.

JDPN promotes greater communication and interaction as ways to strength individual designers and an organization. Through social and informative meetings, a quarterly newsletter, and a Web site, JDPN creates educational, networking and professional opportunities for its members so they can better compete in a competitive marketplace.
